Safety Rules for a Band Saw
One of the most important rules is, keep yourself down from excessive forcing while pushing what you are cutting past the blade of the saw. Always beware that you never back away the stock from the blade in times when the wood gets bonded or pinched on the moving blade.

Check and keep all the guard on the place and remember to yourself protected. The wheels and blade should be positioned correctly and in good condition.
Position the blade on track properly and adjust the height of the blade guard to about 1/8 inch or 3 mm to 1/4 inch or 6 mm above what you are going to cut. Remember that the more the gap, the risk of breaking increases because of extended tensions. Monitor the blade, it should run freely against the guide rollers.
Once the cutting starts, keep your hands away from the table line. Brace against the table. The stock may turn and injure your fingers is high and risky. Firmly hold the stock flat on the table so that the stock doesn’t turn and draw your fingers against the blade.
Band Saw Training Checklist
You must know how to properly use a band saw for safe and perfect cutting. Here are some basic bandsaw techniques for your convenience.
Adjusted The Tension
You can avoid breakage by adjusting the tension according to the blade size. So, start by adjusting the tension properly and set the tracking. Before that, you can check the blade if it needs to be changed or not.
Curve Cutting Technic
As I said previously, choose the best blade for a proper cut, this is compulsory. The edge should not be too narrow or too broad. For example, for a 3/16-inch minimum radius cut, use a 1/8-inch blade. Use a 3/16 inch blade for a 5/16 inch minimum radius cut. Like these, use ¼ inch for 5/8 inch, 3/8 inch blade for 1 ½ inch, 1/2-inch blade for 2 1/2 inch, 5/8 inch for 4 inch, ¾ inch for 5 1/2 inch and 1-inch blade for a 7-inch cut.
Place the table square to the bandsaw blade and adjust the angle. Use a marker to mark the curve out on the board and keep the board on the table in a flat position.
Now you should lock the guard of the saw by lowering it, placing the bottom exactly above the board’s level. The blade will enter the wood once you turn the blade on in this point by placing the marking line parallel to the blade.
Under the moving blade there goes the board to be cut so hold it flat on the table and direct the operation by easily moving the board the through the blade.
You should never, force the wood; just let it go smooth and soft with steady and slow pressure. Keep the blade outside the mark so that you can sand to the line for perfecting your cut.
Need to turn around to make the curve? Do not lift the board off, keep it on the table as it is, rotate the board and follow the marking line. Move the board as required keeping it on the table. Keep your hands safe.
Continue rotating and cutting in the same way and finish cutting the entire piece. Turn off the motor and lift away the board finally from the table once the blade stops running. Never try to reach across the band saw to turn the switch on or off; this can be life-threatening!
Would like to remind you again that, choose a proper place for this workshop where you can work safely. There should not be any disturbing element, and nobody should interrupt your work. In case of any distraction, you should continue cutting and finish the line. If the call is very urgent, turn off the motor before leaving the saw.
So from this how to safely use a bands aw guideline, you understand that along with the precautions, you should be mindful and keep focused while you are cutting with your band saw.
